Matt Kowalski
Matt grew up on the land. He went to school in the city but knew he wanted to return to the country and to farming. He worked on the family farm for 15 years and then took up a full-time farm manager role in Robertson – and the idea for Southern Highlands Farm Management was born.
Matt is always ready to lend a physical hand – on the tractor, handling the livestock or mending the fence. But these days he takes an oversight role – managing the team of farmhands, advising rural property owners, and regularly inspecting and reporting on every farm on the books.

The Southern Highlands Farm Management team is made up of 5 rural property managers. They now manage a dozen properties in the Southern Highlands.
- The smallest farm is 5 acres, with a perfectly maintained garden, an orchard and a paddock of sheep.
- The largest farm is over 250 acres – Southern Highlands Farm Management looks after everything from day-to-day maintenance to sheep and cattle sales, breeding programs, soil cultivation to maximise yield, and more.

Between them, Matt and his team have 100 years of combined on-farm experience. Their expertise is farming, but they’re also:

- gardeners
- orchardists
- like all farmers, jacks of all trades.
